For decades, Alaska’s leaders have known we have a fiscal problem. What has been missing is a serious effort to identify and explain solutions.

This tracker is our commitment to transparency. As we develop and release proposals, we will add them here so Alaskans can see exactly how much progress is being made toward a long-term fiscal plan.

So far, we have identified:

• PFD Reform — approximately $1 billion annually

• Oil and Gas Tax Reform — Update our tax system to increase transparency and stabilize revenues.

Together, these proposals could provide up to $2 billion per year toward solving Alaska’s fiscal challenge.

But we are not finished.

The goal is not simply to balance the budget for one year. The goal is to build a durable fiscal plan that works for Alaska  That’s why every idea we will propose will be measured by the same standard: Does it improve Alaska’s long-term fiscal health while protecting future generations?
