Randy Hoffbeck has called Alaska home for nearly 50 years. He built his career in public finance, taxation, and administration, serving as Alaska’s Commissioner of Revenue under Governor Bill Walker from 2014–2017. During one of the state’s most challenging fiscal periods, he oversaw revenue collection, investments, retirement systems, and budget management while working to develop long‑term fiscal solutions.

Before joining the Walker administration, Hoffbeck served in senior leadership roles with the North Slope Borough, including Chief of Staff and Chief Financial Officer, where he oversaw major budgets, investments, and administrative operations. He also worked extensively in property assessment and taxation for the State of Alaska as the State Petroleum Property Assessor, as well as for the Municipality of Anchorage, earning a reputation for practical problem‑solving and strong fiscal discipline.

In addition to his public service, Hoffbeck owned and operated consulting businesses focused on government administration and taxation. Earlier in his career, he worked in construction and as a general contractor, giving him firsthand understanding of the challenges facing Alaska’s working families and small businesses.

Hoffbeck holds degrees from the University of Minnesota and Liberty University, including graduate studies in divinity and pastoral counseling. He has served communities across Alaska through ministry work and providing pastoral support and leadership during times of church transition.
